Beginning in October 2004, a series of Research Development Grand Rounds - highly interactive strategy sessions aimed at increasing faculty success in NIH funding - were initiated on the UMB Campus. Past sessions have included sessions on the NIH Road Map Initaitive and on grant writing by expert presenters ranging from NIH officials to your own faculty colleagues. The "Rounds" are intended to benefit faculty, fellows and trainees focused on winning and managing federal research grants. Participation in each session is free of charge but registration is required. SESSION EIGHT: NIH Public Access Policy - Requirements and Resources Thursday, March 27, 2008 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM HSF II Auditorium CALL NOW TO REGISTER - 6-5903 Dr. Ilene Zuckerman, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education, School of Pharmacy, will be the keynote speaker for this session on the NIH Public Access Policy, which is now mandatory. What is the purpose of the policy, and what do NIH investigators need to do to comply with it? Representatives from the Health Sciences & Human Services Library will discuss and demonstrate submission of articles to PubMed Central, which is the archive the NIH uses to ensure public accessibility of peer-reviewed publications. NIH-funded investigators are urged to attend. Participation in this session is free but registration is required. Contact Beverly Law in ORD (6-5903) to register. On March 5, 2008, Dr. Bruce Jarrell, Vice Dean for Research and Academic Affairs, School of Medicine, was the key speaker for this presentation. |
