| | Modifications to the budget allocations set up in an FAS budget are to be initiated by (signed by) the Principal Investigator.
- Review the Sponsor agreement, guidelines or policy.
- If the award permits the budget modification:
- If the award requires Sponsor approval of the budget modification:
- The Principal Investigator must write a letter to the Sponsor requesting the budget modification, including a justification for the change. A revised budget may be required or recommended.
- The letter to the Sponsor must be signed by the Principal Investigator and by an ORD authorized official.
- The Sponsor must approve the request for budget modification in writing. Sponsor approval is normally provided by the grant official or contract officer and not by the program official. The written reponse must be received and processed by ORD.
- ORD will forward the approved budget modification request to Restricted Funds for processing.
