Opening Accounts 

When an award is made, the award is reviewed and accepted by ORD for the University.  Upon acceptance, documentation and data are forwarded to Financial Services (Restricted Funds).  Restricted Funds then enters the data to create an account in FAS (Financial Accounting System), and notifies the Principal Investigator’s department administrator of the new account number.  For more information about FAS accounts and data retrieval in FAS, visit the Financial Services site. 

 If an award is highly likely to be made, a temporary account may be requested to facilitate the charging of allocable expenses to the project.
