All Principal Investigators who have funding from NIH, or who have applied for funding from NIH, should request access to NIH Commons. To do so, please send a fax or email to Colin Hunter, chunter@umaryland.edu, 410-706-1066 (fax) with your request including the following information:
- First, middle and last names
- Email address
- Birth date
- Social Security Number
IMPORTANT: The PI must respond to an NIH email to confirm and activate the account
Access to NIH Commons allows the PI to review the current status of all their grant applications and review detailed information associated with their grants, including early access to the summary statement for proposals. For many grants, just-in-time information may be submitted through Commons, as well as award close-out reports. Finally, many grants (particularly R01s) qualify for a streamlined process for submitting known as SNAP, Streamlined Non-competing Award Process. These progress reports may be submitted in Commons via eSNAP.
