What do I need to send to ORD? - Original or draft agreement from the Provider institution or company
- Completed MTA Questionnaire (incoming)
- Include the Provider contact name, phone/fax numbers, e-mail address
What occurs during the review and negotiation process? - ORD reviews the agreement and the questionnaire
- ORD needs to understand how the material will be used in the research project and the source of funding for the project in order to negotiate the agreement terms. The PI may be contacted to discuss the use of materials.
- PI will be informed of any significant agreement issues that will require negotiation.
- If the PI wishes to use the requested materials under a corporate research agreement or if materials are associated with a license agreement, special review by the Technology Commercialization section of ORD may be required.
- Initial contact is made with the company regarding terms in the agreement within 10 business days
How is the agreement finalized? - Issues are resolved through negotiation
- ORD will follow up with PI at least every 10 business days during the negotiating period
- ORD will follow-up with the Provider at least every 10 business days to provide response or check on status of Provider review
Status When will the agreement be signed?
- Once the terms of the agreement have been agreed on, the agreement is signed in ORD and returned to the Provider for full execution
- PI’s signature is sometimes required
Who keeps the original agreement?
- Original fully executed MTA is retained in ORD
- A copy of the agreement is provided to the PI
- Special terms and conditions are highlighted in a memo for the PI’s reference
When will I receive the materials requested? - The PI and Provider are responsible for arranging shipment date after the MTA is signed by both the Provider and UM
